I'm Maria Bernadette Byrne but my bestfreinds call me Marjie or sometimes Mazza. I come from London but have been living in Santiago, Chile for over 2 years. I am desperately trying to learn Spanish but its really hard because I am an English teacher and therefore speak English everyday (obviously!).
I live in Nunoa which is a great neighbourhood - full of life, restaurants, nice bars and a wonderful plaza. I don't go out much though during the week but at the weekends you can often find me having a nice glass of red wine somewhere in Nunoa! At home I plan lessons, email friends, watch TV, cook (I love cooking) and sometimes play the guitar (but my boyfriend doesn't like it!).
Anyway that's enough about me. Now I am looking forward to reading your blogs!

MMmm the worse place to learn spanish I guess its Chile, we speak too fast and we dont pronunciate the words very well, But I guess Its the way you can identify us all over the world.
I have a doubt Its your boyfriend Chilean o English??? and according to your experience what´s best???
I have heard that english people are cold concerning relationships its that true?

I think Spanish is a difficult language to learn, because it has so much words and verbs are really complicated. At school we learn all the verbs conjugations by writing them over a thousand times!!!
Are u good at cooking??? I know u like Thai food, but do cook that kind of food???
A good way to learn more Spanish could be watching movies in English, but reading the subtitles in Spanish... u can find a lot of them on Tv cable.

I agree with Marjorie, this is not the best place to learn spanish, but I'm sure that's better than Argentina.
We have some words that we have invented, like "backan" , "carrete".. etc, not to difficult to understand.
The best teachers in this are yours friends. ;)
